6/7/14: Lilac Poem

Go out, find a lilac bush.
Roll around in the grass and
get chiggers—itch and know what
it is like to be alive.

Breathe in spring air, sweat
out summer heat.
Collect the leaves as they fall
and hold them close to
keep warm in the
winter

Go out and search, find a
lilac bush.
Commit the color to memory, and
when the sun sets on
this world,
ride waves of purple to the next.
